This should be a tight encounter between a stylish Paraguay and a disciplined Japan.
Paraguay are looking to be the fourth South American side into the Top 8 while Japan are flying the flag solo for Asia.
Paraguay have so far shown they are adept in all facets of the game – from being tight and disciplined against Italy, to a brilliant attacking performance against Slovakia.
Japan left it until late to squeeze into the round of sixteen but showed their steel in dealing with a Denmark side equally as desperate to qualify.
Vera in midfield has been the key to the South Americans wile Santa Cruz is looking better with every run. If these two get on top it could be very dangerous for Japan.
In a similar vein Endo has been the important player for Japan and his ability to drive their midfield will be crucial. Honda up front is dangerous in set piece plays but has often failed to finish in general play.
Paraguay look a little better all over and should win.

Spain v Portugal

There’s a smorgasboard of the World’s best players in this match featuring two sides who have been guilty of underachievement in this type of tournament.
Spain have been well backed to win the 2010 World Cup while their opponents have gone in with less weight of expectation than in previous years.
Spain are arguably the most talented side in World Football but while Villa is in sensational form, stars such as Torres have not set the world on fire. If they do, it does not augur well for whoever they’re playing.
Portugal have been either brilliant or flat for large parts of the championship. They were on fire against Norh Korea but looked lethargic against Brazil.
The positive for Portugal is they are yet to concede a goal in South Africa with Carvalho inspirational. If Ronaldo, Tiago and Deco get going Portugal can beat anybody.
Only one quarter final has gone to extra time but we think this will be the second.
