POLITICS: RUDD $2.50 FAVOURITE TO LEAD LABOR TO ELECTION

Kevin Rudd has been heavily backed again with Sportingbet Australia to lead Labor to the next election just months after he unsuccessfully challenged Julia Gillard for the leadership.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Rudd had been backed from $3.10 to $2.50 in the past 48 hours as speculation rose that Labor powerbrokers were canvassing numbers again.

“Kevin Rudd is the only name we have written in the past week to lead Labor to the next election and he is a clear favourite again now,” Sullivan said.

“We had pushed Rudd out to $6.00 following his failed challenge in February but punters have backed him at every point into favouritism.

“Julia Gillard has blown out from $1.40 to $3.00 in the same time and we are struggling to find any punters who want be on the Prime Minister to still be in charge at the next election.”

Sportingbet have the Coalition at $1.15 to win the next election with Labor at $5.00.
